I had only one wisdom tooth, thank God for one only. Both my siblings and most of my friends have with 2 - 4 wisdom teeth.
After having endless headaches, uclers and toothache for months. Finally, silly me.. got the reason for this pain I have been bearing!! MY WISOM TOOTH!! the BIG Root of the problem. Been to the dentist around 1 year ago, Dr Kuan, he said that there is only (1) wisdom tooth growing, slow development. When I went back to him last month, he told me that it is developing well.. upright!! (GREAT!) but it's growing right at the back whereby my back gums may be covered the tooth and have food stucked there often even if i tried to brush hard enough- it's no good. Cause if i brushed hard to keep it clear, i ended with sore gums and my gums bled that cause uclers and toothache easily. Though there is no hurry, i decided to have an appointment to extract out a month later..
Days ago, I went for the extraction. The day came, things just went SA-LA... I took MC leave in adv. My appointment was at 10am but i woke up @ 10am (forgotten to set my alarm!!) ; the nurse called and asked me whether i realised my appointment was today.. But she was nice, asked me to take breakfast and told me not to hurry.
When i reached the clinic, I asked her the schedule that morning; it was packed as I can tell patients waiting.. Pai Seh...
Nervous + Butterfly in tummy as i waited for my turn. As usual, the smile and friendly dentist was there to greet me. He explained to me the process of extraction. Took a jab and awaits for x-ray results... Looks bad! the roots of wisom tooth is bigger than my wisdom tooth. A bit of complication he explained. Went on, the numbness to start off, i was kinda in my dreamland.And something else, then "pluck" the tooth. Very bad, after a few pulls, it didnt come loose. As he pulled, I can also felt the nerves and the other side of my jaw pulled! The force used was rough that it hit my lower gum. I am really awake!! He told me that he has to cut out the surrounded gums a bit to create a drain for bigger area as my roots are bigger. Another few pulls, I was tearing a bit, my mind thinking whether I cant take the pain or what.. He gave another anthesistic jab. Was better.. He told me that it's getting a bit more complicated; he has to saw/drill for my tooth to break into 2. And later, he has to crack it, warning of sound and pain. I took it well, maybe the pulls and worn off jab just now has made me stronger. The extraction was unsuccessful after a few times, really painful; anthesetic was gone again.
I felt like giving up.. tearing... my endurances level is that low?? But I cant give up, though it is really pain and I cant even rinse properly.
Dr Kuan said it's tough, nothing is out. He will have to saw into smaller pieces. and more extraction pulls (I felt terrible, when is it going to be over?? Stupid me, shouldnt make any appointment to gone though all this sufferings). Another jab. The 1st piece came out and after another 4-5 pulls, everything was out. Finally, all over.. Phews.. Dont know whether child labour is worse than this or not. A final stitches which is painless and nothing as compared to the pain.
Cant stop the bled and I bite on the grauze. He shown me my broken tooth and told me the complications happened earlier and cautions, what will happened.
Almost 2 hrs of operation and $513.
When I went back home, though athesistic was gone. But it's ok. A swollen check and non-stop bleeding. Took milo, medication and nap. Blood on the pillow. Next stupid thing I did when I was awake - i brushed my teeth, though not near the part but pain pain pain.. I cried.. Hungry, I told my mom I need food - porridge, very soft porridge. Impressive, I can eat. I surprised everyone - yes, I am a GLUT!! Hahah.. Maybe to me, the pain I underwent earlier was nothing as compare to bleeding and pain now.
2 Day - cheeks swollen, yes, bleeding still.
3 Day - subside a bit of everything. Took a bit of solid food but still hurts. Nurse was very nice. She called me to follow up and asked me to get more medication before clinic closed.
4 Day - subside of cheek, almost there. Bleeding stops but sometimes I rinsed my mouth once I can felt blood. Went for cousin's wedding, took food but stopped at meat. Jaw aching.
5 Day - PTL!! cheek looked normal. Able to take solid food but controlling and taking it slow with another normal side of jaw. Went to church - life is also normal.. :) finally, I can put on the smile and look forward to going back to work. Thank GOD!! :) :) :)
